Filia Ghi
FILIA GHI, a Greek winery located in Thessaly, specializes in crafting high-quality wines with a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Drawing on the region’s rich agricultural landscape, they cultivate olive and almond trees. The company is exploring opportunities to utilize residual prunings from local vineyards, olive groves, and almond orchards. To support its eco-conscious initiatives, FILIA GHI has already installed a photovoltaic system to offset carbon dioxide emissions.
FILIA GHI collaborates with local cooperatives and thus maximizes the use of regional crop biomass, such as cotton and maize, thereby promoting eco-friendly practices that benefit both the land and the local community.
Role in the Project
In the TEAPOTS project, FILIA GHI aims to utilize local agricultural biomass, including vineyard, olive, almond prunings, and grape pomace, to generate renewable electricity and cooling for the winery. The main goals of the pilot are:
Creating a sustainable supply chain to support efficient unit operations.
Achieving independence from the electricity distribution network.
Using biochar as an ecological fertilizer.
Creating a replicable model of green energy production for similar sites in the region.
