Press Release: Survey Explores Farmers’ Waste Practices
We’re excited to announce a new press release highlighting the results of a recent survey conducted by our project partner, Professor Alex Koutsouris, from the Agricultural University of Athens. The survey was carried out in Germany, Greece, and Italy as part of the TEAPOTS project and offers valuable insights into current waste management practices among farmers.
The survey explored how farmers manage agricultural waste and their views on the TEAPOTS Integrated Solution (TIS)—a system that transforms waste into renewable energy and useful byproducts like compost and biochar. Results show strong interest in sustainable practices, driven by financial incentives and the benefits of biochar for soil health. At the same time, farmers highlighted key challenges, including inadequate current systems, high upfront costs, and logistical barriers. Many emphasized the need for financial support and technical training to make adoption of TIS feasible.
We sincerely thank Alex and the Agricultural University of Athens for their important contribution to this research. The insights gained will play a crucial role in shaping the development of the TEAPOTS system to ensure it meets farmers' real-world needs.
