Key Milestone: Deployment of Two Poles in the Greek Pilot

The TEAPOTS project is another important step toward advancing sustainable agricultural practices. In February, our dedicated partners from INL with the support of the CERTH successfully deployed the first two poles at the Greek pilot site.

Experts constructed and installed two monitoring poles at Filia Ghi farm in Sofades, Greece. Each pole is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and instruments, including:

  • Two spectrometers

  • A camera to capture five images daily at different times.

  • A soil moisture sensor to ensure real-time monitoring of soil conditions.

  • A weather station to track climate variables affecting biomass growth.

  • A solar panel and battery system providing sustainable, off-grid power.

  • Cloud-based connectivity via GSM to transmit real-time data every 15 minutes.

The data collected from these sensors is continuously transmitted to a dedicated digital platform, where AI algorithms and advanced image processing techniques analyze the information. This innovative approach enables:

  • Biomass growth monitoring using spectrometry and imaging.

  • Accurate estimation of available agricultural waste for sustainable resource management.

  • Real-time insights into soil and weather conditions, helping farmers optimize their practices.

This deployment contributes to the progress of the TEAPOTS project by advancing continuous biomass monitoring and improving data accuracy. By leveraging AI-driven insights, this initiative aims to revolutionize the monitoring and management of agricultural waste, contributing to more sustainable farming practices across Europe.
